📚 My AI post this Week: AI for Personalized Learning System for Students
Implementing an AI-powered Personalized Learning System (PLS) within the educational setting. The PLS adapts to each student's individual learning style, pace, and interests, aiming to improve engagement, knowledge retention, and overall academic performance. To make it more accessible, educational institutions and companies like Khan Academy are piloting chatbot-based solutions based on GPT language models. Here are some of the things that Khanmigo from Khan Academy can do:
Answer students' questions about math, science, and other subjects.
Guide students through math problems step-by-step.
Help students debug code.
Serve as a debate partner.
Engage in conversation in the voices of literary characters.
Check out my latest Use Case to learn all about this Use Case, including a Python example, AI Algorithms to use, and Data Challenges to take into account in such implementations:
🗞️Top News of the Week
1. The Next AI Moment is Here - Nvidia at Computex
At COMPUTEX 2023, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang announced new systems, software, and services that harness generative AI, the most transformative technology of our time. This week also Nvidia became a Trillion Dollar Company. The new offerings and announcements presented are designed to help businesses in a wide range of industries, including healthcare, manufacturing, and entertainment.
Nvidia announced the DGX GH200, a new AI supercomputer that delivers 1 exaflop of performance for generative AI. It uses Nvidia NVLink to combine up to 256 NVIDIA GH200 Grace Hopper Superchips into a single data-center-sized GPU.
The GH200 Superchip, which Nvidia said is now in full production, combines an energy-efficient Nvidia Grace CPU with a high-performance Nvidia H100 Tensor Core GPU in one superchip.
The DGX GH200 packs an exaflop of performance and 144 terabytes of shared memory, nearly 500x more than in a single Nvidia DGX A100 320GB system. That lets developers build large language models for generative AI chatbots, complex algorithms for recommender systems, and graph neural networks used for fraud detection and data analytics.
Google Cloud, Meta, and Microsoft are among the first expected to gain access to the DGX GH200, which can be used as a blueprint for future hyperscale generative AI infrastructure.
NVIDIA’s DGX GH200 AI supercomputer delivers 1 exaflop of performance for generative AI.
Here are some additional details about the new generative AI announcements from Nvidia:
Nvidia ACE for Games: A cloud-based service that allows developers to create and deploy AI-powered NPCs in their games.
Nvidia Omniverse Avatar: A suite of tools that allow developers to create realistic, expressive avatars that can be used in a variety of applications.
Nvidia Clara Holoscan: A system that uses AI to create high-quality 3D scans of people and objects.
Nvidia Isaac Sim: A simulation platform that allows developers to test and train AI agents in realistic environments.
Nvidia Metropolis: A platform for creating and managing large-scale 3D simulations.
These new offerings from Nvidia are a testament to the company's commitment to generative AI. Nvidia is at the forefront of this rapidly growing field, and its new offerings have the potential to have a major impact on a wide range of industries.

2. Japan Fully Commits: Copyright Laws Won't Impact AI Training
The Japanese government has decided not to enforce copyright on data used in AI training, allowing AI to use any data regardless of its source or purpose. This move is part of Japan's ambition to become a global leader in AI technology, despite concerns from creators that it could devalue their work. The decision aims to boost Japan's slow economic growth by effectively implementing AI.
Japan also asserts that if the West uses Japanese culture for AI training, Western literary resources should be available for Japanese AI. Globally, this decision adds a new perspective to the AI regulation debate, showcasing Japan's readiness to leverage AI to compete with the West.
3. Falcon 40B AI - New Royalty-Free Model
The UAE's Falcon 40B, a leading open-source AI model, is now royalty-free for commercial and research use, according to the Technology Innovation Institute (TII). The model ranked first globally among large language models, and operates under the Apache 2.0 software license. TII's move aims to enhance technological innovation and knowledge sharing, fostering a collaborative ecosystem. This decision could speed up project initiation, enhance software development processes, and simplify license management, thereby promoting transparency and progress in AI across various industries.
4. ChatGPT: Known by Many Americans, Used by Few
According to a recent survey by Pew Research Center, 58% of Americans have heard of ChatGPT, a large language model chatbot developed by OpenAI. However, only 14% of Americans have tried ChatGPT themselves.
As ChatGPT and other large language models continue to develop, it is likely that they will become more widely used by people in all walks of life.
Here are some additional details from the survey:
58% of Americans have heard of ChatGPT.
14% of Americans have tried ChatGPT.
Americans are more likely to have heard of ChatGPT if they are younger, have a college degree, or live in a urban area.
What does this mean for the future of ChatGPT?
The survey results suggest that ChatGPT and Generative AI implementations have the potential to be a widely used tools. As the technology continues to develop, it is likely that more people will become familiar with it and start using it for a variety of purposes. The future of Generative is bright. As technology continues to develop, it has the potential to change the way we live and work.
